Have you ever been fishing before? The kind where you stay up all night getting your tool case ready and you make sure that you have enough line. As you drive to the lake, you stop at the gas station to fill up and get food only to stop a little later to get bait. You turn into the parking lot and park. And wait. It's only 4 am and the fish don't come out until 6. It seems that forever goes by before finally you can get out and start the day off. You set the bait and cast the pole out in the water. Now, you have even more waiting. Waiting for that one bite.
Then it happens. The lure gets yanked and your eyes light up as you frantically start reeling in your big catch. The fish yanks, turns and tries to get swim away. You do your best to hold on and fight it out. The line becomes increasingly difficult to maneuver and then snap. The fish breaks free and gets away.
Or maybe through all of the struggling and fighting, the fish has given up and you reel in your prized catch. You take it out of the water and hold it to the sun. Boasting the catch of the year. With a smile as big as your face can handle, your hard work has paid off. The night has not been lost.
Both of these cases are analogies for dating girls. Often, so much goes into getting the date that it seems like forever. She has class, work or simply bails thus throwing a quick turn in your plans. Dating is like fishing in some ways. Sometimes you catch something you like and decide to keep it. Other times you catch something then realize its too small and throw it back. Most of the time however, the line breaks and the fish swims away.
The beauty of fishing is that you can fish as much as you want. The hard part about fishing is that its not easy to catch fish. Sometimes they come in waves and other times they won't come for weeks, month or even years. Fishing is built for a man with patience. The patience to move past the broken lines and the lost fish. For the weak hearted will simply quit after a few tries. Maybe to return at a later date or maybe to not return at all.
Dating girls takes patience. Finding girls takes patience. Life takes patience. When the opportunity presents itself, you must learn to gut the fish. Grab that hook and and take it out of the mouth. Then, ever so gently, strip the fish. Clean it off where all that's left is the meat. Once you eat the meat, you are going to want more (This paragraph was not written to sound like pimpin. Even though that may well happen).
The best fisherman know when to let fish go. They know when to go out and fish too. They plan out whens the best time to catch the best fish. Much like dating girls, men need to know when to let go of a woman. You need to learn when to go out and look for someone. You need to be a good fisherman. You need to read a book on fishing.
Enjoy.
